A parable

I was browsing through the C news group and found these two interesting variants of the parable “Give a man a fish; you have fed him for today. Teach a man to fish; and you have fed him for a lifetime”

Give a man a fish, and you've hooked a customer.
Teach a man to fish, and he'll open a competing fish market.

variant #2

Give a man a fire, and he's warm for today.
Set a man on fire, and he's warm for the rest of his life.
